We’ve talked about Carbon and Water as growing concerns within the data center community and today, Thursday December 2, 2010, The Green Grid made a big announcement introducing the release of the Carbon Utilization Effectiveness (CUE) metric. This is a much welcomed move by The Green Grid into an area encompassing sustainability issues which offer the sustainability organization additional insight not available in the very simple PUE metric.
The CUE White Paper is now published and available to download now, I strongly encourage data center operators to become familiar with this metric as it will likely become part of the growing lexicon embraced by those in the Chief Sustainability Officer’s (CSO) organization.
As noted in previous entries, this is an excellent move by The Green Grid as they expand into the broader sphere of influence associated with building, operating, servicing, and decommissioning data centers. I strongly encourage you to become more involved with Green Grid activities by becoming a contributing member. They are the ones who enjoy all the action!
